About Us
Who we are
The National Council of Women of the Philippines (NCWP) is the umbrella organization represented in the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and advocates gender equity and women empowerment in compliance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Established in 1946 as the first Women’s Assembly in the Philippines through the Filipina educator and humanitarian Francisca Tirona-Benitez, the NCWP has grown to become the largest and broadest network of women’s councils, advocates, and collaborators working towards the realization of women empowerment goals stipulated in various international declarations and Philippine statutes and government programs. As a legally recognized representative of women’s organizations in the country, the NCWP sits at the Board of Directors of the Philippine Commission of Women (PCW) – the official government agency representing the voice of Filipino women.
