NCWP Cluster THREE
Social Development and Economic Empowerment
NCWP’s Social Development and Economic Empowerment Cluster builds networks and implements programs towards enhancing the capacities of NCWP affiliates and other women’s organizations in capturing opportunities for livelihood development through emerging e-commerce channels and resource recovery and upcycling business models as well as marketing them in partnership with other organizations and entities.
Our core advocacy
Reducing the Vulnerability of Women to Economic Pressures
Knowledge and Skills Transfers
Understanding the structure of the new global economy and addressing the emerging challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to women's participation in economic production are at the core of our strategy. We are partnering with academic institutions to support the continuous upgrading of skills among our partner communities.
Partnerships with Policy Makers
We recognize the need to push for more inclusive economic policies aligned with research and backed by data. This is why we will work to deepen connections between academics and policy decision makers to develop synergies in the crafting of economic policies especially at the local level.
Market Access and Financial Literacy
We are supporting women organizations to become active participants in the emergent digital economy by providing them with the relevant skills needed to access market opportunities. We will build platforms where women entrepreneurs can share best practices and mentor each other while pointing to possible sources of capital and financial resources
Our 2021-2023
Action Plan
01
CiteLOCAL Coalition
In 2022, launched together with Balikatan sa Kaunlaran (BSK) National Foundation, Inc. and the Center for Local Innovation and Capacity Development (CLICDPH, Inc.) a movement that seeks to bridge gaps between academic researchers and local policy makers with the goal of generating local economic policies that are backed by data and research.
In 2023, the CiteLOCAL Coalition will rollout training programs drawing from the lessons and perspectives generated by our earlier initiatives with our academic and policy fellows.
02
Livelihood through Circular Economies
We are organizing a workshop series for women’s organizations around the Philippines with the goal of introducing them to the principles of the circular economy and regenerative agricultural practices.
03
BayanANIHAN
Together with BSK National Foundation, we will support local community efforts in urban and peri-urban as well as rural community farming by linking them to possible benefactors who can support the entire planting, growing, and harvesting process while at the same time, preparing their cultivated vegetable gardens into becoming farm-tourism destinations.
